Affiliated Partners and Affiliated Partners Plus Representative Responsibilities and Opportunities

Representatives play a central role in an affiliated organization's ability to reap the benefits from the partnership. Representatives serve the crucial functions of recruiting mentors and helping to publicize MentorNet to their constituents. While representatives' duties may differ based upon their organization's partnership with MentorNet, here are some possible responsibilities and opportunities.

Responsibilities

Recruit mentors

Recruit mentors by getting the word out about MentorNet to the organization's members. Mentor recruiting suggestions and materials are available from the MentorNet staff and can be found on the MentorNet web site at: www.mentornet.net/documents/partners/recruiting/recruiting_mentors.aspx. The most popular method is to post an email "Call for Mentors" on organizational electronic distribution lists.

Provide information

Provide background information for the MentorNet web site, thus enabling MentorNet participants, particularly students, to learn about the society.

Respond to MentorNet requests

Respond to requests for feedback or information from the MentorNet staff and evaluation team. Provide program suggestions and critiques.

Additional Responsibilities for Affiliated Partners Plus Representatives

Recruit students

Recruit students by getting the word out about MentorNet to the organization's student members. Student recruiting suggestions and materials are available from the MentorNet staff and can be found on the MentorNet web site at: www.mentornet.net/documents/partners/recruiting/recruiting_students.aspx. The most popular method is to post an email "Call for Students" on organizational electronic distribution lists.

Certify eligibility

After students have applied, Affiliated Partners Plus representatives verify that the students are indeed members of their organization.

Consult, troubleshoot

Be available for consultation or problem solving as needed, and help contact students if necessary.

Opportunities

Place items in the MentorNet newsletter

Affiliated Partners have the opportunity to submit notices about their organization and career opportunities for inclusion in MentorNet's monthly electronic newsletter.
