The MentorNet Community

What is the MentorNet Community?

The MentorNet Community debuted in 2002 and evolved from evaluation results and feedback which said that MentorNet participants felt a sense of community. In response, MentorNet reorganized its web site to support and foster that community and to provide a wider choice of options to benefit from MentorNet's programs.

What features does the Community offer?

The MentorNet Community offers several opportunities for participation. These include:

  • One-on-One Mentoring Programs – MentorNet's award-winning e-mentoring programs, matching protégés and mentors for email based mentoring relationships.
  • MentorNet E-Forum – web-based discussion groups where Community members can exchange ideas and advice.
  • Resources – links and readings relevant to women and diversity in science and engineering.
  • Résumé Database – students at MentorNet's participating campuses can place their résumé here for MentorNet's sponsors to view.

How does it work?

Community members register by providing their name, a valid email address, and a username and password. They can then immediately begin using the various features of the community.

Who can join?

The MentorNet Community is as inclusive as possible while keeping its focus on supporting women and others underrepresented in engineering and science. The list below states some of the characteristics of members that this community has been developed for. Currently there is no charge for individuals to participate in the Community, but members are encouraged to support MentorNet with a tax-deductible donation.
