The links below will take you to information about who we are and the various aspects of MentorNet.
MentorNet is the premiere and most experienced web-based e-mentoring program in the world. Every year we match thousands of students, postdocs, and early career researchers in engineering and science on hundreds of campuses to mentors in the professions for one-on-one guided relationships.
As a 501(C)(3) non-profit education initiative, we have been recognized for our achievements by a U.S. Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Engineering Mentoring, the Cisco Grand Prize for Educational Technology, and grants from the National Science Foundation, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, The S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation, and the Carnegie Corporation as well as many corporate foundations.
Originally founded by Dr. Carol Muller in 1997 to help women engineers, our mission to diversify the global talent workforce has expanded to more than 70 science, engineering and technical fields and to serve all eligible students, with a focus on those who are underrepresented in their chosen fields.
We continually improve our Web-based platform for matching and guiding mentors and protégés based on ongoing research. We are an intensely data-driven organization while keeping our eyes on our lofty goal of unleashing and diversifying talent globally.
Today, we also provide the only social network where engineering and science students from across the U.S. and globally can create their profiles as future professionals, grow a future professional network of peers, mentors and future colleagues, share their experiences, and show their seriousness about their career aspirations. Our corporate partners can search these profiles, post jobs, and contact these talented protégés directly.
Mission Statement
To further the progress of women and others underrepresented in scientific and technical fields through the use of dynamic , technology-supported mentoring network.
To advance individuals and society, and enhance engineering and related sciences, by promoting a diversified, expanded and talented global workforce.
